Xuzhou is located in the northwest of Jiangsu Province. Xuzhou boasts a profound history and rich cultural heritage. It was one of Chinas nine prefectures in ancient times, with more than 5,000 years of civilization and 2,600 years of city history. It was the vassal state of Master Peng Zu, the hometown of Emperor Liu Bang, and the old capital of General Xiang Yu. The two artery railway lines of Beijing-Shanghai and Lanzhou-Lianyungang meet in Xuzhou. Xuzhou Guanyin Airport operates more than 20 domestic and overseas flights. Xuzhou serves as a crossroads in the high-speed railway network. It takes about 3 hours to reach Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xian, and Wuhan from Xuzhou by the high-speed railway.

Xuzhou is decorated with green mountains and clear waters, making it a living-friendly city. As a city in the north of China, Xuzhou has unusually large areas of forested mountain and water system, with a forest coverage rate of 30.1%, the highest in Jiangsu Province. Its urban greenery coverage rate reached 43.8%, ranking second in the province. The proportion of water bodies achieving water quality above Class-3 in the functional area in Xuzhou is up to 79%. In recent years, it has been recognized as National Environmental Protection Model City, National Forest City, National Advanced Sanitation City, National Ecological Garden City and National Advanced Civility City. Culture Site of Han Dynasty in Xuzhou

Culture Site of Han Dynasty is located at No.1 Terracotta Warriors Road, Third Ring Road, Yunlong District, Xuzhou City. The whole scenic spot starts from the Third Ring Road in the East, ends at Longhai Line in the south, Jinpu Line in the west, and ends at Luotuoshan Mountain in the north. It is a Han culture protection base and a boutique scenic spot integrating history exhibition, garden landscape, tourism and leisure.

Culture Site of Han Dynasty in Xuzhou covers an area of 1400 mu, which is composed of core area and extension area. The core area is composed of Shizishan mountain Chu Prince Mausoleum, Han Terracotta Warriors Museum, Han Culture Exchange Center (displaying Han painting and stone art), the Liu’s Ancestral Temple, Zhulin temple, Yangguishan Exhibition Hall (Queen’s Mausoleum), Aquatic Terracotta Warriors Museum and other Han culture essence scenic spots. The extension area includes Han Culture Square, Han Culture Museum, Public Leisure Square, Chess Tea Garden, Archaeological Simulation Base, Grass Skiing Field and other attractions. It includes the Han tombs, terracotta warriors and horses, and Han painted statues, which are known as the “three wonders of the Han Dynasty”, and shows the essence of the Han culture. It is the largest, richest and most abundant Han culture protection base in Xuzhou.

Underground Palace of Chu Prince Mausoleum

Located in the core area of Culture Site of Han Dynasty in Xuzhou, the owner of the Chu Prince Mausoleum in Shizishan Mountain is likely to be Liu Wu, the third generation of Chu Prince in the Western Han Dynasty. The mausoleum has a unique shape and a huge project. It is a rare large-scale tomb in Wangya Cave of the Western Han Dynasty. More than 2000 sets of precious cultural relics, such as gold, silver, copper, iron, jade and pottery, were unearthed from the Mausoleum. The Chu Prince Mausoleum in Shizishan Mountain is the largest Mausoleum of Western Han Dynasty in Xuzhou, with the largest number of cultural relics and the highest historical value. It has been rated as the first of China’s ten new archaeological discoveries in 1995 and one of China’s 100 great archaeological discoveries in the 20th century. Yanggui Mountain, located in the south of the tomb of the Chu Prince, is believed to be the tomb of the Queen of Chu. The tomb is exquisitely constructed and has complete functions, especially the whole mausoleum is covered with red and blue, which is only seen among the known mausoleums of the Han Dynasty. Due to the complexity of color protection technology, it has not been formally explored. At present, there is an exhibition pavilion of the Queen’s mausoleum, which shows the shape and structure of the tombs of the princes and queens of the Han Dynasty.

Han Dynasty Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum

The painted terracotta warriors and horses of the Western Han Dynasty is a typical symbol of the Han culture in Xuzhou. It was discovered 300 meters to the west of the Chu Mausoleum in 1984. It is a huge underground military array composed of six terracotta warriors and horses pits. More than 5000 pieces of terracotta warriors and horses were unearthed. The new museum is a two-story building with a building area of 6000 square meters. The newly added “military exhibiting hall of Han Dynasty in Xuzhou” enables visitors to appreciate the development history, layout and production technology of terracotta warriors and horses. At the same time, by comparing with the terracotta warriors and horses of Qin Dynasty, the terracotta warriors and horses of Hanyang Mausoleum and the terracotta warriors and horses of Yangjiawan in Xianyang, they can have a deeper understanding of the rich Era Connotation of the terracotta warriors and horses in Xuzhou. At present, the only Aquatic Terracotta Warriors Museum in China is newly built 100 meters north of the museum. The museum is two square Jue Dou shaped buildings with four slopes. On display are restored terracotta pits and carefully restored terracotta warriors and horses. The Aquatic Terracotta Warriors Museum and the Han Dynasty terracotta warriors and horses Museum jointly present to the audience the complete military array owned by the Chu Prince of the Han Dynasty more than 2000 years ago and the developed military, economic, technological miracle and civilization of the Han Dynasty.

Han Dynasty Portrait Stone Museum

Xuzhou Han Dynasty Portrait Stone Museum is located in Hudong Road, Quanshan District, Xuzhou City, in Yunlong Lake scenic area, Xuzhou City. It is a special museum for displaying, collecting and researching Han Dynasty stone statues. It has been awarded the titles of excellent Museum of Jiangsu Province, national 4A tourist attraction, national second-class Museum, Jiangsu social science popularization demonstration base, etc.

The newly-built Stone Gallery on the east side of the lion pool is about 300 meters long. It is the first museum in China with the theme of “cultural experience of Han stone reliefs”. Outside the exhibition hall, there are four groups of Han Dynasty stone reliefs, including “chariots and horses travel group”, war competition group, production and life groupand myth world group, which truly represent the politics, economy, culture, belief and other aspects of the Han Dynasty, and fully reflect the spiritual temperament and aesthetic pursuit of the people of the Han Dynasty.

Xuzhou Museum

Xuzhou Museum is a local comprehensive museum established by Xuzhou Municipal People’s Government on the site of the palace of Emperor Qianlong during his southern tour in the Qing Dynasty. It is a national 4A scenic spot. Built in 1959, it is located at the northern foot of Yunlong Mountain. After three times of reconstruction and expansion, it consists of four exhibition areas: the main exhibition building, the tomb of Pengcheng King of Eastern Han Dynasty in Tushan, the quarry site of Han Dynasty, Qianlong palace and tablet garden. It covers an area of 33000 square meters, with a construction area of 12000 square meters and an exhibition hall area of more than 3000 square meters.

Memorial Museum of the Huaihai Campaign

The memorial hall is built to commemorate the great victory of Huaihai Campaign (1948.11.6 ~ 1949.1.10), one of the three major battles during the war of liberation, and to carry forward the great achievements of the revolutionaries of the older generation and the revolutionary spirit of the heroes. In 1959, the State Council decided to build a memorial tower for the martyrs of the Huaihai Campaign and a memorial hall for the Huaihai Campaign in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. The foundation was laid in 1960 and opened in 1965, covering an area of 790000 square meters. Later, the memorial buildings such as the group sculpture of the General Front Committee of the Huaihai Campaign, the forest of steles of the Huaihai Campaign, the Xuzhou National Defense Education Hall, and the Xuzhou Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall were successively built.

Yunlong Mountain

Yunlong Mountain is located in the south of Gupeng scenic spot, with an altitude of 142 meters and a length of 3 kilometers. The mountain is divided into nine sections, winding ups and downs, shaped like a dragon, head to the northeast, tail to the southwest. Yunlong Mountain not only has the natural scenery of famous mountains and rivers, but also has a long history of human landscape. There are many cultural relics on the mountain, including the big stone Buddha in the Northern Wei Dynasty, the cliff stone carvings in the Tang and Song Dynasties, the crane releasing Pavilion, the crane attracting Pavilion, the crane drinking spring and the old residence of Zhang Shanren in the Song Dynasty; Xinghua Temple in Ming Dynasty, Tuas Rocks in Qing Dynasty, Shanxi Guild Hall, Boat Hall, Imperial Stele Pavilion, Stele Gallery and other historical relics. When Su Dongpo was the governor of Xuzhou in Song Dynasty, he toured Yunlong Mountain with his friends many times, leaving many masterpieces.

Xuzhou Yunlong Lake Scenic Area

Xuzhou Yunlong Lake Scenic Area is located in the south of Xuzhou City. It is an urban scenic spot with Yunlong natural landscape as its feature, Han culture, celebrity culture, religious culture and military culture as its main content. It has integrated functions of science popularization, sightseeing, sightseeing, leisure and ecology. The scenic area is 44.7 square kilometers, the peripheral protection zone is 44.2 square kilometers, and the total control area is 88.9 square kilometers. Among them, the core scenic area is 15.1 square kilometers, the water area is 7.5 square kilometers, and the water area is 6.5 square kilometers. There are many cultural relics and historic sites in the scenic area, including Han Dynasty Portrait Stone Museum, Han Tomb, Liu Bei Fountain, Water World, Ecological Island, Ten Miles Apricot Flower, Lakeside Park and Su Gong Tower. It is rated as a national 4A scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.
